The design builds upon the practices and technology used by archaeologists. The grid is an important tool used during an excavation to map and document the site of exploration and therefore it serves as a great metaphorical graphic element which carries the cover typography, all of the above printed on a transparent sleeve. The next technology which inspired the design is light detection and ranging (LiDAR) used for the creation of high-resolution maps. The starting point was a photograph which was edited and manipulated to mimic LiDAR topological images, creating industrial yet imaginative visuals, analogical to the feelings induced by Nina Pixel’s music. Instead of song titles on the vinyl itself, each track is represented by a symbol stemming from Nina Pixel’s research. These symbols are elaborated on and explained in the accompanying booklet, forcing the listener to connect the dots, evocative of archaeological research. Due to the transparency of the sleeve, the booklet/poster together with a variety of stickers create a one of a kind design everytime the vinyl is played and returned to its case.
